Our Mission (S.I.P.)
In our industry growers understand our success is predicated on how we deliver on service, dependability, and integrity. If you build a great experience and provide clients with consistent exceptional service, they will tell each other about it. At VCI, our greatest asset is our customers and it all starts with earned respect. We will always treat each client with honor and respect and are always thankful for the opportunity.
At VCI, we provide real service to our clients. To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money. It is called sincerity and integrity. Integrity is a threshold characteristic for our agency. Our clients base their business success by this motto and so do we. We will not waver.
“The price of success is hard work, dedication to our clients, and the determination to apply the best of ourselves to every task at hand.” We are committed to a steady persistence in a course of action and principles. We believe in our philosophy and will always adhere to our purpose. We will always surround ourselves with the right people and training to make us better at what we do each and every day. That is our pledge to you.

Robert G. Aviña
Founder & CEO
Skills and achievement
Robert Aviña is President of Vintage Crop Insurance Agency, Inc., a recognized leader in crop insurance responsible for protecting thousands of acres in California since 1995. His 23 years of industry experience spans sales, service, administration, ownership, and consulting.
Mr. Aviña began his professional career in 1995 with Crop Growers Insurance (CGI) building and managing an extensive wine grape, citrus, almond, and avocado portfolio. His work helped make CGI one of the largest agencies on the West Coast. During his tenure, Mr. Aviña was instrumental in obtaining the endorsement of the California Association of Winegrape Growers (CAWG) and continues to be an avid member and supporter to this day.
In 1999 his desire for new opportunities prepared the ground work for Roudebush & Aviña Insurance Services, Inc. Hard work and determination produced a flush of growth for R&A that did not go unnoticed. Aviña’s success and discipline attracted the interest of other agencies seeking to diversify. The intimate wine industry knowledge, expertise, and relationships acquired by the R&A team blossomed into acquisition by Pan American Underwriters in 2003. Aviña continued consulting there through 2007.
By 2009, Aviña’s reputation for doing what was best for the client combined with vital grower support helped stake and start Vintage Crop Insurance. More recently, VCI expanded into Oregon, Washington and Arizona with the addition of new agribusiness services and a growing team fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and English. In addition to staunch agribusiness industry advocacy, Robert continues to pioneer best practices in service, leadership and agency development. He is an active member of the Regional Agent Advisory Council Board through RCIS/Zurich. Vintage Crop Insurance was recognized by RCIS for Outstanding Achievement in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.
Opportunities and vision
In a heavily regulated industry with no price differentiation, Mr. Aviña believes there is no substitution for honesty and hard work. VCI’s early success is a testimony to Aviña’s vision and conviction. Trust, loyalty and respect are shared between his family, clients and agents alike. What’s next? Through his perseverance and drive, Robert is fixed on growth and portfolio diversification into agribusiness services. Specific objectives include leadership development, new partnering opportunities, performance management, and agency acquisition.
Work ethic and love for family and ag stem from Robert’s early life in California’s Central Valley. He credits his mother and father for instilling the values he holds most dear. Today he lives in El Dorado Hills, California, with his wife Fiorella and their three high achievers ages 21, 18 and 5. When he is not at the helm, he can be found cycling, golfing or on the gridiron playing his beloved flag football for more than 20 years. He is passionate about the industry and enjoys speaking and writing on agency best practices, trends, sales, service, and leadership.

Bobby graduated from Joseph A. Gregori high school with a 3.9 GPA. He is currently a freshman at Arizona State University, in Tempe, AZ majoring in Political Science and minoring in History. Bobby’s excellent work habits are formed through his discipline in football. In his free time Bobby enjoys spending time with family and friends, working out, and playing video games.
After hearing about the wildfires of Napa & Sonoma Counties in 2017, Bobby, as the leader of his varsity football team, he took it upon himself to establish a fundraiser within the entire football program and the effort was an overwhelming success.
With support from his local high school, football program, and families, they were able to collect two truck loads of clothes, toiletries, toys, and food. In addition, Bobby donated his entire summer job income to add to the donation. Through the help of his father’s clients, he was able to coordinate with Puertas Abiertas, a Napa non-profit organization helping immigrant farm workers and all families affected by the devastating wild-fires.
His mindset was, “If everyone would just pitch in a little, we can all make a difference.” Here are some links to read more about the efforts.
His efforts did not go unnoticed. At his 2017 awards banquet Bobby was presented with the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition by Congressman Jeff Denham.
